THE CHALLENGE

An international franchiser and licensee of hotels, resorts and time-share properties required the identification of gaps in their ability to recover critical business data in the event of a ransomware attack. An organization recently created within the company had limited resources and knowledge, and an immature disaster recovery plan in place. Cayuse needed to fill the gaps by providing subject matter expertise. The effort was in conjunction with the corporation’s desire to implement an updated end-to-end Disaster Recovery Program.

THE SOLUTION

The predominant need in this situation was a partnership. The client was looking for a team who had past project experience and skills. They sought knowledge to develop a plan for assessing the current state and needed recommendations for improving their resiliency from potential major outages and cyber-attacks.

Leading the efforts, Cayuse:

  • Conducted a detailed analysis of the critical data by recovery tiers
  • Developed a plan to implement the required procedures to protect and recover the client’s data in the event of an interruption of their critical business processes
  • Assured that critical data was backed-up, encrypted, copied to an alternate location, and met business recovery requirements
  • Validated the new procedures and documented the recovery results for potential future audit requirements

THE OUTCOME

The client needed assurance that, in the event of an outage of their operations, they would be protected and able to recover the critical data supporting their functionality. The procedures put in place support the client’s journey toward implementing and testing an end-to-end disaster recovery program.
